Just The Judge, winner of the 2013 Etihad Airway Irish One Thousand Guineas (Ire-I), is to be offered at the Tattersalls December sale, scheduled for Nov. 24—Dec. 4 in Newmarket.
The Lawman filly will be the first English Guineas- or Irish Guineas-winning filly still in training to be offered for sale since Ravinella, who was sold at the 1988 Tattersalls December sale for 1.4 million guineas after taking the season's One Thousand Guineas at Newmarket.
Trained by Charlie Hills on behalf of owners Qatar Racing and the Sangster family, Just The Judge has a 4-1-4 career line from 12 starts and earnings of $627,661. Her record includes the Vision.ae Rockfel Stakes (Eng-II) at age 2 when she went unbeaten in all three starts, and she was a close runner-up to Sky Lantern in the English Guineas in her start prior to the Irish Guineas, which she won by 1 1/2 lengths.
This year the 4-year-old filly placed twice at the top level, posting thirds in the Newbridge Silverware Pretty Polly Stakes (Ire-I) and the Aug. 16 Beverly D. Stakes (gr. IT) at Arlington International Racecourse in her most recent start.
Just The Judge is expected to start next in the Oct. 19 E.P. Taylor Stakes (Can-I) at Woodbine.
Just The Judge was bred in Ireland from the Rainbow Quest mare Faraday Light, a half sister to 2009 Epsom Oaks (Eng-I) third-place finisher High Heeled. Second dam Uncharted Haven was a two-time grade II winner in the United States.
"Just The Judge will always have a special place in our hearts as the first classic winner to carry the Qatar Racing colors," said David Redvers, on behalf of Qatar Racing.
"Her win in last year's Irish One Thousand Guineas was a wonderful day for us and our co-owners, the Sangster family. We strongly believe that she will continue to perform at the highest level, and of course she will always be a magnificent addition to any breeding operation."
