BG Stables' homebred Feeling Strong did his sire proud Sept. 3 when he broke his maiden at Del Mar.
The first winner for Capital Account, Feeling Strong closed with a four-wide rally in a six-furlong maiden special weight for 2-year-old California-breds, and drew off under urging from jockey Kent Desormeaux to a one-length score. The Hector Palma trainee ran the distance in 1:12.63, inching away late from runner-up Offshore Affair.
It was the fourth start for Feeling Strong, whose career was launched with fourth-place finishes in June and July at Santa Anita Park and Los Alamitos Race Course. On Aug. 19 the colt missed by three-quarters of a length to Policy in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Del Mar.
Capital Account , winner of the 2012 Pat O'Brien Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, is a grade 1-placed son of Closing Argument out of the Private Account mare Accountess. He stands in California at BG Thoroughbred Farm, where his 2018 fee was $2,000.
