Dream Awhile wins the Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth

The consistent Dream Awhile, who has placed in all four of her starts this season while racing exclusively in stakes races, will aim for her second graded stakes score of 2018 when she faces an expected five other fillies and mares in the $200,000 Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes (G3T) Sept. 8 at Parx Racing.

Conditioned by champion trainer Chad Brown, Joseph Allen's Dream Awhile earned the first graded stakes win of her career June 30 at Monmouth Park in the Eatontown Stakes (G3T) and fell a neck short in the July 29 WinStar Matchmaker Stakes (G3T), also at Monmouth.

Dream Awhile's connections opted to pay a $2,500 fee to supplement her to Saturday's 1 1/16-mile turf race. The Dr. James Penny Memorial had been scheduled for July 3 at Parx but was postponed when that card was canceled because of extreme heat warnings.

A daughter of War Front , Dream Awhile debuted in France, where she won two of five starts, before she placed third in her first North American start in the fall at Aqueduct Racetrack, in an optional-claiming allowance race on the grass. Dream Awhile closed last season with a win in the Tropical Park Oaks at Gulfstream Park.

Also entered Saturday is Corms Racing Stable and R. A. Hill Stable's Divine Miss Grey, but she'll only start if the race is moved from the turf to the main track. A 4-year-old daughter of Divine Park, Divine Miss Grey already has won three stakes races this season: the Interborough Stakes in January at Aqueduct, the Heavenly Prize Invitational Stakes in March at Aqueduct, and the Lady's Secret Stakes in late June at Monmouth.
