Pre-entered fields for all Breeders' Cup races will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 22. This year's Breeders' Cup takes place Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park.
Breeders' Cup pre-entry is the first stage of a two-step entry payment process for all owners intending to start a horse in a Breeders' Cup World Championships race.
The pre-entry payment, due Oct. 20 as well, may be made to the Breeders' Cup offices in Lexington through Oct. 17 and at the Breeders' Cup racing office at Santa Anita Park beginning Oct. 18. Payments for overseas pre-entrants can be made at Weatherbys, France Galop, and Horse Racing Ireland. Other pre-entry payment locations and additional information is available at www.members.breederscup.com.
The second payment to start a horse in a Breeders' Cup race is due Monday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. PT, when entries are taken for all 13 races. Post positions are drawn that afternoon.
All starters in the Breeders' Cup World Championships that are based outside of California receive either a $10,000 (in North America) or a $40,000 (International) travel award.
