Silent Treat Towers Over Ontario Fashion S.

Homegirl Silent Treat, an Ontario-bred, will carry highweight and likely favoritism into the Oct. 19 Ontario Fashion Stakes (Can-III), which attracted a field of 10 older fillies and mares sprinting six furlongs at Woodbine.

The 4-year-old daughter of Silent Name   was most recently second after setting all the pace in the seven-furlong Avowal Stakes last month. She won the restricted Zadracarta Stakes last June and the Ballade Stakes last May, both on the front end. Silent Treat has won half her 10 races over the Woodbine Polytrack for trainer Scott Fairlie.

Goldstryke Glory, at the rail, provides speed inside Silent Treat but has failed to carry it to the wire in her most recent stakes attempts. She has faded late in two added-money heats after a wire-to-wire allowance score in July. Native Bombshell took the Ruling Angel Stakes by a nose from off the pace a year ago but that was her most recent race so she has rust to shake off here.

Disco Barbie has yet to race at Woodbine, but is coming off a close second in the Presque Isle Masters Stakes (gr. II) going 6 1/2 furlongs. She was third in the Chicago Handicap (gr. III) at Arlington International Race Course in June and won an allowance heat in between those efforts. Youcan'tcatchme is the defending champion of the Ontario Fashion, but her five races since winning last year have been uninspiring.

Canterbury Park shipper Strike the Moon would benefit from a hot pace. When she does fire, it is from well back in the field. Thats Our Princess has been struggling in allowance company and needs to move forward to contend here. Cryptic Message,Casablanca Kiss, and Cat Lore also need to prove they can step up from allowance company.
