I don’t feel bad for Naomi Osaka. I don’t feel bad for her because she should not have been so moved to apologize for winning the US Open. Her opponent’s behavior was out of line but since her opponent happened to be the greatest player the sport has ever witnessed, she didn’t know what to do.
Serena Williams lost to Osaka in the US Open final in straight sets, yet no one will remember that. Not unless Osaka indeed becomes the next Serena. But she won’t. No one will.
