Magalen O. Bryant's V. E. Day, winner of the Travers Stakes (gr. I), will run in the Nov. 1 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park, according to racing manager Cynthia Curtis.

The son of English Channel   is coming off an eventful trip in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I), in which he had to steady to avoid fallen jockey Rajiv Maragh. He then went six wide into the far turn before getting fanned wide again at the head of the stretch.

He had little left for the stretch run and finished sixth while beaten 8 1/2 lengths by Tonalist, who he had bested by 2 1/2 lengths in the Travers.

Prior to the Travers, V. E. Day, trained by Jimmy Jerkens, captured the 1 1/8-mile Curlin Stakes at Saratoga Race Course after beginning his career on the grass.

"After the Gold Cup, Jimmy and I obviously were a little disappointed, but we've been watching the replays and the horse didn't have the greatest trip and was very wide the whole race," Curtis said. "He still finished in midpack and wasn't beaten that far. So all things considered, he didn't run all that badly, he's been competitive with these horses, and he's been training very well."
