Ashbrook Farm's Southern Honey, runner-up in the Thoroughbred Club of America (gr. II) at Keeneland, will be pre-entered Monday, Oct. 20, in the $1 million DraftKings Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (gr. I) to be run at Santa Anita Park.
The seven-furlong main track event is one of nine Breeders' Cup races to be contested Nov. 1.
"We're going," trainer Rusty Arnold said. "I met with the owners (Glenn Bromagen, his wife, Sandy, and son Bo, who is the racing manager for Ashbrook) this morning. The filly is doing good and she came out of her work yesterday great."
Southern Honey had worked a best-of-84 half mile in :46 4/5 the morning of Oct. 18. Arnold said the 3-year-old daughter of Colonel John would work again Oct. 26, and leave for Southern California two days later.
Southern Honey will be the second Breeders' Cup starter for Ashbrook. The farm's Wicked Style finished 10th in the mud at Monmouth Park in the 2007 Juvenile (gr. I).
Bred in Kentucky by Whisper Hill Farm out of the Carson City mare Mama Tia, Southern Honey has won three of eight starts overall with earnings of $222,752. She captured the Winning Colors (gr. III) at Churchill Downs May 26.
