Description:

Champion Shared Belief, in his longest workout leading up to the Nov. 1 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), worked six furlongs in 1:14 2/5 handily on the synthetic Tapeta surface at Golden Gate Fields Oct. 21.

Shared Belief, undefeated in seven starts, is the expected favorite for the $5 million Classic at 1 1/4 miles at Santa Anita Park.

With jockey Russell Baze aboard, Shared Belief recorded splits of :13 for the opening eighth of a mile, :25 2/5 for the quarter-mile, :37 1/5 for three furlongs, :49 3/5 for the half-mile, and 1:02 3/5 for five furlongs. The 3-year-old Candy Ride   gelding galloped out seven furlongs in 1:27 2/5.

"The track is always dead on Tuesdays, so that's a good time," said Sherrie Wolfe, head clocker at Golden Gate.

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer had Shared Belief, the champion 2-year-old male of 2013, work in company with two other horses, Prodicious Facts and Hard to Please. Shared Belief spotted Prodicious Facts and Hard to Please a four-length head start, rallied inside of Prodicious Facts coming into the stretch, and pulled away from his stablemates.

"It was a great work," said Hollendorfer, who co-owns Shared Belief with Jungle Racing, KMN Racing, Jason Litt, George Todaro, and Alex Solis II. "We had him come up the rail today and we're very pleased with how everything went."

Hollendorfer said Shared Belief will have his final work, at a half-mile, for the Classic Oct. 28 at Golden Gate and then ship to Southern California.
