Top Three Juveniles Get Lots of Company

Description:

The top three 2-year-olds haven’t scared anybody off as 15 horses have been pre-entered with first preference in the $2 million Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park.

The 1 1/16-mile contest will likely crown the Eclipse Award-winning 2-year-old, certainly if it is won by American Pharoah, Carpe Diem, or Daredevil.  American Pharoah has already landed a pair of grade I victories, having won the Del Mar Futurity and Frontrunner Stakes in his past two starts. He is trained by Bob Baffert, who won this race in 2013 with New Year's Day  .

Carpe Diem, who won the Breeders’ Futurity (gr. I) for fun at Keeneland, is undefeated in two starts, as is Champagne Stakes (gr. I) winner Daredevil. Both are conditioned by Todd Pletcher, who won the Juvenile two years ago with Shanghai Bobby  . Souper Colossal, whose three wins in as many tries (including two stakes) have come at Monmouth Park, is flying under the radar for the moment.

Lucky Player won the Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) and heads the next tier, which includes stakes victors Blue Dancer, Private Prospect, The Great War, and Upstart
