Two-time grade I winner Artemis Agrotera boasts a three-race win streak going into this year's $1 million DraftKings Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (gr. I) Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park.
A homebred for Chester and Mary Broman, 3-year-old New York-bred Artemis Agrotera's win streak includes scores against older fillies and mares in the Gallant Bloom Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park and the Ballerina Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course. The Roman Ruler filly, who also won last year's Frizette Stakes (gr. I) before finishing fifth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), was among the 11 fillies and mares entered in the seven-furlong Filly and Mare Sprint.
Two of the top contenders pre-entered in the race would start off extended layoffs. Wesley Ward's Judy the Beauty, who finished second to Groupie Doll in last year's Filly and Mare Sprint, will be making her first start since winning the Rancho Bernardo Handicap (gr. III) Aug. 17 at Del Mar; and Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman's Midnight Lucky returns for her first race since winning the Humana Distaff Stakes (gr. I) May 3 at Churchill Downs.
