Description:

Kaleem Shah and Fed Biz LLC's Fed Biz, a strong second to undefeated Shared Belief in the Awesome Again Stakes (gr. I) in his last start, worked a half-mile Oct. 25 at Santa Anita Park in preparation for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (gr. I).

The 5-year-old horse by Giant's Causeway was timed in :46 4/5 on a track rated fast in his final preparation for the Dirt MIle Oct. 31.

"He was just galloping outside of (a workmate)," trainer Bob Baffert said. "He's doing great."

Fed Biz finished sixth in last year's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and eighth the year before. Both races were held at Santa Anita.

Karl Watson and Paul Weitman's Tiz Midnight, who gave Beholder all she could handle in the Zenyatta Stakes (gr. I) in her last start, worked five furlongs in :59 for Baffert. The 4-year-old Midnight Lute   filly will get her first try at 1 1/8 miles in the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I).

"It was a strong work," Baffert said. "She worked really well. It was pretty dark when she went out, and I just saw her coming around (into the stretch). She went nice."

Beholder would have been the Distaff favorite in search of a repeat of her 2013 victory, but spiked a fever and will not compete.

Baffert said Bayern (grade I Breeders' Cup Classic) and American Pharoah (grade I Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile) are scheduled to work Oct. 26, while Secret Circle (grade I Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint) will work Oct. 27.
