Gun Runner , the 2017 Horse of the Year, remains atop the Three Chimneys stallion roster for 2019, with his stud fee unchanged at $70,000 for his second year at stud, the farm announced Oct. 12.

"We are very pleased at the performance of our stallions this past year, in the breeding shed, on the racetrack, and in the auction ring," said Three Chimneys chairman Goncalo Torrealba. "Gun Runner covered an exceptional book of quality mares, which should lay the foundation for him as a successful sire."

"Every stallion on our roster was represented by a high-dollar horse in the sales ring," Torrealba added. "At Fasig-Tipton July, the top five-selling fillies were by three separate Three Chimneys stallions. Auction results were strong at Keeneland September as well, and both of our freshman sires are off to a great start with their progeny. We have set our fees to represent value to our customers in the marketplace."

The top-selling filly at The July Sale was a $435,000 daughter of Strong Mandate  that Alex and Jo Ann Lieblong bought out of Denali Stud's consignment. Also among the top-five fillies at the sale were two by Palace Malice  that sold for $275,000 and $250,000, and two by Will Take Charge  that sold for $260,000 and $250,000.

Gun Runner, whose six grade 1 wins include the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) and Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1), earned $15,988,500 in a stellar racing career. He was dominant on the racetrack, winning the Woodward Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) by 10 1/4 lengths, the Whitney Stakes (G1) by 5 1/4 lengths, the Clark Handicap (G1) by 2 3/4 lengths, and the Stephen Foster Handicap (G1) by seven lengths. He is Candy Ride's leading earner and is out of Quiet Giant, a grade 2-winning half sister to 2005 Horse of the Year Saint Liam.

Champion Will Take Charge, winner of the Travers Stakes (G1) and Clark Handicap, is a top-five first-crop sire in 2018 by progeny earnings and co-ranked in second by number of black-type performers with four alongside Goldencents  and Souper Speedy . He is represented this year by black-type winner Kim K, who won the Barretts Debutante Stakes; grade 2-placed winner Lightscameraaction, who was third in the Pocahontas Stakes (G3) and second in the Exacta Systems Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Kentucky Downs; and by stakes-placed Manny Wah and Red Zinger. He is also leads his sire class with a lifetime yearling average of $154,063. The fee for this son of Unbridled's Song remains unchanged at $30,000.
