Diamond B Farm's third-crop sire Uptowncharlybrown had his stud fee increased from $1,500 to $4,500 for the 2019 breeding season based on the stronger performance of his progeny this year.
The 11-year-old son of Limehouse got his first graded stakes winner when 3-year-old Dixie Serenade won the July 8 Victory Ride Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park. Raced by Uptowncharlybrown Stud, which is headed by Bob Hutt, Dixie Serenade has compiled a 3-2-1 record this year out of seven starts and earned $221,750 so far. The filly placed in the Jose L. Flores Memorial Stakes and in the New Start Stakes this year as well.
Uptowncharlybrown ranks second among the Mid-Atlantic's third-crop sires and is the only stallion on the list represented by a black-type winner year to date. The sire also has nine winners from 14 starters and progeny earnings totaling $664,523 through Oct. 9.
Among Uptowncharlybrown's top runners are four who have earned more than $100,000: stakes-placed winners Midtowncharlybrown ($216,128), Charlybrown's Rose ($145,084), and Wait for It ($119,800), as well as multiple winner Alan's Legacy ($118,827).
Uptowncharlybrown, who has lifetime average progeny earnings of $71,901, has been standing at Glenn and Becky Brok's Diamond B Farm near Mohrsville, Pa., since 2015. He has 36 foals that are yearlings and weanlings and was bred to 60 mares in 2018.
