Daring Duchess wins the Flaming Page Stakes at Woodbine

Ken and Sarah Ramsey's multiple graded stakes-placed Daring Duchess heads a field of 10 entered for the $125,000 Rood & Riddle Dowager Stakes (G3T) for fillies and mares going 1 1/2 miles Oct. 21 at Keeneland.

Daring Duchess won the Flaming Page Stakes at Woodbine in August over the 12-furlong distance and enters off a sixth-place run in the Canadian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association (G2T). The 6-year-old daughter of Arch will be contesting the Dowager for a third straight season, having finished fifth in the race in 2016 and seventh last season. Daring Duchess also finished second in the 2017 Bewitch Stakes (G3T) going 1 1/2 miles over the Keeneland course and was fifth in that race this year.

Daring Dutchess is one of three entrants in the race from the barn of trainer Mike Maker. Stablemates Rahway and Shezaprado are owned by Out Of This World Racing.

Vexatious, a full sibling to grade 1 winner Creative Cause  and multiple graded stakes winner Destin, most recently took on male runners when finishing seventh in the Sept. 15 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes (G1T). The daughter of Giant's Causeway won the CTT and TOC Stakes on the Del Mar turf and was fourth in last year's Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1).

The Jim Cassidy-trained Amboseli, third in the CTT and TOC Stakes, ships in from California off a fifth-place finish in the Sept. 29 Rodeo Drive Stakes (G1T).
