Delta Downs Vet, Parents Killed in Kentucky

Description:
Emily Champion, who practiced veterinary medicine at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel in Vinton, La., was the victim of a multiple homicide Oct. 26 while visiting her parents at their rural home in Western Ky.

Champion, 31, a veterinarian with Baronne Equine Veterinary Clinic in Sunset, La., was found shot to death along with her parents, Lindsey and Joy Champion of Cadiz, Ky., and another man.

Kentucky State Police say the man, identified as 22-year-old Vito Y. Riservato of Hopkinsville, Ky., is suspected of shooting Champion and her parents.

Police also say they are investigating Riservato's relationship to the family and that he may have met them just a week ago. A fourth family member, Champion's brother, Ryan, may have been at home during the attack and is being treated at a hospital, according to published reports.

"We're still trying to fit some pieces into the puzzle about the whole situation," State Police trooper Jay Thomas told Fox News.

Thomas said no information will be released about Ryan Champion, whom police are considering as a witness to the killings.

Emily Champion was a 2008 graduate from Auburn University's college of veterinary medicine and had worked at the clinic since 2009, according to her biography on the clinic's website. She was a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
