Its Gonna Hurt, who upset the Speakeasy Stakes at 8-1 odds Oct. 6 to earn an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, will miss the Nov. 2 race at Churchill Downs because of a suspensory issue, trainer Brian Koriner said Oct. 26.

The Louisiana-bred Violence  colt—owned by Janet Lyons and Evan, Andrew, and Matthew Trommer—was scheduled to log his last workout in preparation for his Breeders' Cup run Friday morning at Santa Anita Park but will now get some time off and be turned out, Koriner said.

"He's got a little suspensory—a little flare in the suspensory," Koriner said of Its Gonna Hurt, who broke his maiden in a claiming race at Del Mar Aug. 4 in his start before the Speakeasy. "It was a gift (to make the Breeders' Cup). Never thought he was that kind of horse, so we're not going to cry about it. That's racing."

Its Gonna Hurt's victory in the Speakeasy, a Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win & You're In" race, had earned him a spot in the new Breeders' Cup race.

Its Gonna Hurt's exit from the Juvenile Turf Sprint opens the door for Hat Creek Racing's Chelsea Cloisters, who is first on the list of 16 horses who didn't make the initial field of 12 when the Breeders' Cup announced pre-entries Oct. 24.

The Wesley Ward-trained First Samurai  filly has finished second in three straight stakes: the July 3 Prix du Bois (G3) at Deauville, the Aug. 15 Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, and the Oct. 7 Indian Summer Stakes at Keeneland.
