William S. Farish's homebred Code of Honor will scratch out of the Nov. 2 Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Churchill Downs after spiking a fever the morning of the race.

"He's got a temperature this morning," Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey said Friday. "Bad timing."

Code of Honor was the 5-1 third choice on the morning line for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and was coming into the race off a second-place finish in the Champagne Stakes (G1) where he rallied after stumbling badly at the break. The chestnut son of Noble Mission  broke his maiden first time out going six furlongs at Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 18.

"It could be good timing, who knows," McGaughey said of having to miss the Juvenile. "He could have been harboring this thing and if we'd gone over and ran him and he ran bad, we'd all be looking at each other. And he could have gotten sicker than he is."

McGaughey added that if Code of Honor recovered quick enough, he could start in the Remsen Stakes (G2) Dec. 1 at Aqueduct Racetrack.

"If he gets over this thing in the next day or so we can ship him back to New York as planned on Sunday," McGaughey said. "We'll live to fight another day."
