Polydream, the 5-1 morning line favorite, was scratched from the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T) after he returned to the barn lame after training the morning of Nov. 2.
According to reports in the Daily Racing Form, Polydream was scratched by state veterinarians against the wishes of trainer Freddy Head. Head, who trained Golidkova to three consecutive Mile wins and piloted Miesque to back-to-back Mile victories in 1987-88, told DRF the group 1-winning daughter of Oasis Dream was moving the same way she always does and that nothing was amiss.
Awesome Slew, 15-1 on the morning line for the Nov. 3 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1), was also among the notable scratches for Saturday's card, trainer Mark Casse confirmed Nov. 2.
"He has been a little lethargic and a little under the weather the past few days, so we decided not to participate," Casse said Friday morning.
The son of Awesome Again is scheduled to begin his stallion career in 2019 at Ocala Stud. Owned and bred by Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Plantation, Awesome Slew finished third in last year's Dirt Mile at Del Mar.
