Description:

Jay Em Ess Stable's By the Moon shipped well from New York to California Oct. 28 and is getting some light exercise in advance of the 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) Nov. 1.

Trained by Michele Nevin, By the Moon, a 2-year-old Indian Charlie filly, jogged under exercise rider Tom Singh the morning of Oct. 29 at Santa Anita Park and will gallop Thursday. Nevin said By the Moon will not go to the track the morning of the race.

By the Moon won the grade I Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park in her previous start Oct. 4, and before that finished second in the grade I Spinaway at Saratoga Race Course.

"She's just a baby and this is only her fourth start," Nevin said. "Each race has been a steppingstone for her, (from) 5 1/2 furlongs to seven furlongs to a mile. So far, she has moved forward each time. I hope it continues here."

By the Moon worked five furlongs in 1:02 4/5 at Belmont Oct. 27 before her trip to Santa Anita. By the Moon drew post 12 on the far outside for the 1 1/16-mile Juvenile Fillies, which will mark her first race around two turns.

Don't Tell My Wife Stables' Danette, a five-race maiden but a fairly accomplished one, had her final work for the Juvenile Fillies Oct. 28 when she went five furlongs in 1:00 2/5. The Curlin   filly, trained by Keith Desormeaux, finished a closing third in the Chandelier Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita in her last start Sept. 27.

"She had an awesome work," Desormeaux said. "We couldn't be more happy with her progress. What excites us a little more about her is that the race is really evenly matched and anyone can win. She's moving forward at the right time, and I don't mind no one talking about her."

In the Chandelier, Danette finished behind Angela Renee and Conquest Eclipse, and just ahead of Majestic Presence, who defeated Danette when she broke her maiden. Those three are entered in the Juvenile Fillies as well.
