Description:

The Indiana Horse Racing Commission announced Oct. 30 that the backlog of its drug testing samples is clear and testing is current at its Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse race meet at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino.

The backlog of samples had accrued over the past several months at LGC Laboratory in Lexington.  In late August the commission diverted all its race day pari-mutuel samples to Industrial Laboratory in Denver, Co.

The commission sent all suspicious samples awaiting confirmation testing at LGC to Industrial Oct. 9 and the backlog has now been cleared.

"We are indebted to Petra Hartmann, Seth Wong and the fine staff at Industrial Lab for their exemplary and timely service", said Joe Gorajec, commission executive director. "We are glad to be in a position to notify our horsemen of the status of their samples prior to the conclusion of the race meet."

The season ends Nov. 1.

The commission said it expects the backlog of Standardbred samples to be complete prior to the close of Hoosier Park's race meet Nov. 15.
