The Ocala Jockey Club announced Nov. 12 its 2019 fees for Irish Surf and Thoreau .
Grade 3 Irish Surf, the only son of Giant's Causeway standing in Florida, will remain at $5,000 with a live foal, stands and nurses contract.
Bred by Gainesway, Irish Surf is out of the multiple grade 1 winner and 2000 Eclipse champion 3-year-old Surfside and was co-raced by Gainesway and Pavla and Erik Nygaard's Thor-Bred Stables. He compiled a 3-2-4 record in 25 starts and earned $278,945 before being retired and entering stud at Nygaard's Ocala Jockey Club for the 2018 season.
Thoreau, a 10-year-old son of Gone West, was relocated from California to Florida and will stand for $1,500.
From limited breedings while at stud privately, Thoreau has sired juvenile non-black-type stakes winner Fairfaithhills and multiple winners Belle de France, Music Babe, Mighty Thor, and Theorem, who recently won a claiming race Oct. 25 at Laurel Park by seven lengths. Thoreau is out of a Deputy Minister winner Madame Thor, who is a daughter of grade 2 winner Broad Dynamite and from the family of multiple grade 1 winner Very Subtle.
Irish Surf and Thoreau will both be available for inspection during the Ocala Jockey Club International 3-Day Event Nov. 15-18. Stallion barn tours will be held each day at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.
