Claiming Crown Nomination Deadline Nov. 8

The nomination deadline for horses for this year's eight Claiming Crown races at Gulfstream Park is Nov. 8, officials said.
The claiming Crown program is scheduled for Dec. 6, with the supplemental nomination deadline Dec. 3.The regular nomination fee is $100 and the supplement fee is 5% of the respective purse.
Total purse money for the eight Claiming Crown races is $1 million, with the Claiming Crown Jewel the top purse event at $200,000. Nomination forms are available at www.claimingcrown.com.
"There's a great deal of anticipation from horsemen and fans surrounding this year's Claiming Crown," Gulfstream chief executive officer Tim Ritvo said. "The Claiming Crown will not only kick off our 2014-15 Championship Meet, but it will be our first day of live racing at Gulfstream Park in two months. It will be an electric atmosphere. We believe this Claiming Crown, the third held at Gulfstream Park, will be the best."
Phil Hanrahan, CEO of the National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, said organizers, including the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, hope to have at least 30 nominees for each race. He also said the Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach Hotel, Diplomat Hollywood Beach, Hampton Inn Hallandale-Aventura, Hollywood Beach Marriott, and Turnberry Isle Resort will be offering the Gulfstream horsemen's rate for lodging during Claiming Crown weekend.
