Pichi Investments' Zenden took the second consecutive race of his career with a gritty performance Dec. 8 in the $75,000 Buffalo Man Stakes at Gulfstream Park and became the first stakes winner for WinStar stallion Fed Biz .
Sent off as the 7-5 favorite after debuting with a 1 3/4-length victory Sept. 29 at Gulfstream Park, Zenden pressed pacesetter Jackson through opening fractions of :22.41 and :45.78. When jockey Emisael Jaramillo gave the signal, the colt charged to a two-length score despite drifting out in the six-furlong stakes for 2-year-olds. The final time was 1:12.32.
The Victor Barboza Jr.-trained Zenden was bred in Kentucky by Brent Harris and Beth Harris out of the Sharp Humor mare You Laughin. He sold for $7,500 at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling Sale when consigned by Blandford Stud and purchased by South Legacy Stables, and he was a $47,000 purchase by VEB Racing Stable Corp. from Potrero Stables' consignment to the Ocala Breeders' Sales June 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale.
Multiple graded stakes winner Fed Biz, by Giant's Causeway, was a two-time track record-setter during his career for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. His juveniles in 2018 ranked him among the top 10 freshman sires by 2-year-old average. He will stand the 2019 season at WinStar for a $10,000 stands and nurses fee.
