Beginning Nov. 15, Del Mar will shift its first post for weekends for the inaugural autumn meet from noon to 12:30 p.m. PST, the track announced.
The change will mean all racing programs at the seaside track start at 12:30 p.m. for its November "Bing Crosby Season" with one exception.
The lone exception will be Thursday, Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day, when racing will begin at 11 a.m.
"We thought the noon post on the weekend might be a good way to go," said Joe Harper, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club president. "But after a sampling, our horsemen and our fans have indicated to us that they like the slightly later start for several reasons.
"In addition, it allows us to advertise one time for our start time and cuts down on confusion for all. In the end, we are adapting and adjusting, which is what you have to do with a new venture like this."
The track will continue to schedule nine races on weekends and eight on weekdays. Racing will be conducted Thursday through Sunday for the remaining three weeks of November.
