In her second start, Amynta became the first black-type winner for Hill 'n' Dale Farms sire Atreides when she won the Nov. 25 Clasico Cuerpo de Bomberos (G2) at Hipodromo Presidente Remon in Panama.
The 2-year-old filly is trained by Alberto Paz Rodriguez and was ridden by Jose Morelos to a half-length victory in her second attempt in a group-level race. Amynta's first race resulted in a fifth-place finish in the Clasico Ernesto (Neco) Ernesto y Joaquin Corona de la Guardia (G3).
Bred by Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings in Kentucky, Amynta is out of the Henny Hughes mare Henny's Hurricane. J.C. Farm purchased her from the breeders' consignment to the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $11,000.
A 7-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro , Atreides was campaigned by Stonestreet Stables and won four of five starts before being retired with a tendon injury in 2015. In his debut at Gulfstream Park, Atreides won a six-furlong maiden race in near-record time by 5 1/4 lengths, then returned a month later to take an optional-claiming allowance race by three lengths.
In his stakes debut, he crushed a Gulfstream field in the Monarchos Stakes, winning by 17 1/2 lengths. After finishing sixth in the Indiana Derby (G2), his only graded stakes effort, he easily scored in the Aventura Handicap back at Gulfstream.
Atreides is slated to stand for a fee of $5,000 in 2019.
