Trainer Rubley to Establish KMR Racing

Kelly Rubley, who has been an assistant to trainers Barclay Tagg and Jimmy Toner, plans to establish KMR Racing Stable this winter.



Rubley, who presently trains for Justin Nicholson's Ninety North Racing Stable and AJ Suited Racing Stable, and Anne Poulson's Hare Forest Farm, is based at the Fair Hill Training Center, relocating to Florida during the winter months.



The Pulaski, N.Y., native began training a small string independent of Toner in April and to date has five wins and five placings from 17 starters, with earnings of $181,993. Rubley recorded her first career win with St. Albans Boy at Pimlico Race Course in April.



Rubley is a lifelong horsewoman, having competed in show jumping, eventing, and fox hunting. She began working with Tagg at Fair Hill in 2009 as an exercise rider. The following year she became an assistant trainer with a string at Belmont Park



With a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry and a Master of Science degree in secondary education from SUNY-Oswego, Rubley has served as a teacher and assistant principal.
