Amerman Racing's homebred Award Winner, a half brother to grade 1 winner Oscar Performance  and grade 3 winner Oscar Nominated, broke his maiden in style Dec. 15 at Gulfstream Park.

With Jose Ortiz in the irons for the $60,000 maiden special weight going a mile, the son of Ghostzapper  set a pressured pace through fractions of :23.25, :46.28, and 1:11.87 before galloping clear to a sharp, 4 1/2-length score. The final time on a sloppy (sealed) track was 1:38.86.

Also contesting the race in his first start for trainer John Servis was Supervillain, a Super Saver  half brother to multiple graded stakes winner Takeover Target. He finished eighth of nine.

Award Winner finished sixth in his Oct. 28 debut at Churchill Downs for trainer Brian Lynch. In that race, a seven-furlong test, he broke 10th and improved his position to midpack by the wire. He is the fifth foal to race out of the Theatrical mare Devine Actress. The Kitten's Joy  runner Oscar Performance, her top achiever, took the 2016 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T) and Pilgrim Stakes (G3T) and counts the 2017 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) and 2018 Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes (G1T) among his eight wins. Oscar Nominated, also by Kitten's Joy, won six times, including the 2016 Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes (G3), the 2017 Calumet Farm Kentucky Turf Cup Stakes (G3T), and the 2018 W. L.
