Entitle, a 2-year-old half sister to the top-class Enable, got off the mark at Lingfield Dec. 19 when she won the EBF/Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Novice Stakes, an allowance-level equivalent going a mile.
Despite still showing signs of greenness on just her second outing, the John Gosden-trained Entitle was soon racing handily and took up the lead as the 11-runner field turned for home. However, as the final furlong loomed, Queen Elizabeth II's Equal Sum, a homebred daughter of Paco Boy, ranged up and hit the front.
But Entitle showed a game attitude and eventually regained the lead before pulling a length clear of some well-related rivals, including Alandalos, a daughter of Invincible Spirit and Ghanaati.
After the race, her jockey, Rab Havlin, said: "Entitle was a little bit weak earlier in the year, but she had a growing spurt during the summer and is a lot better for it now. She was green, but the further they went, the better she went. I loved her attitude as she knuckled down when it mattered. She's grand at home—she can be a bit busy, but she's clearly got ability."
Bred by Juddmonte Farms, Entitle is a daughter of the pensioned Dansili, who sired 23 group/grade 1 winners during his 18 seasons on covering duty at Banstead Manor Stud.
She is the seventh foal out of the Sadler's Wells mare Concentric and the fifth winner from as many runners produced by her dam.
As well as Enable, Concentric is also responsible for the group 2-placed Contribution, a daughter of the late Champs Elysees; the useful Tournament; and Entitle's full brother, Centroid. Concentric is out of the group 3-winning Apogee and, therefore, is a sister to Dance Routine, better known as the dam of the prolific globetrotter Flintshire .
Entitle's third dam is Gold Seal Epsom Oaks (G1) and Gilltown Stud Irish Oaks (G1) runner-up Bourbon Girl, whose relatives also include Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1) winner Spanish Moon.
While she has an awfully long way to go to emulate her illustrious older sibling, Entitle can at least claim to have one thing beyond pedigree in common with Enable, as the daughter of Nathaniel also broke her maiden on the all-weather, albeit at Newcastle, before going on a stunning run that saw her claim seven grade/group 1 events, including the Investec Oaks, two Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphes, and the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf.
The pair also have a half sister by Frankel who will turn 2 next year, and Concentric delivered a colt by Sea The Stars March 1. She visited Nathaniel for a second time in 2018.
