Undefeated Uruguayan Triple Crown winner Sir Fever has been purchased privately by an undisclosed buyer and is expected to race in the United Arab Emirates, according to a Nov. 17 report in Turf Dario.
Sir Fever could target either the U.A.E. Derby (UAE-II) or Dubai World Cup (UAE-I), both scheduled for March 28 at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.
The deal was brokered by John Fulton Bloodstock, which didn't name the buyer or the purchase price for Sir Fever, who is by Texas Fever out of the Rainbow Corner mare Sirina. He was bred by Haras N.A. and was raced by Oro Negro, according to the report.
Sir Fever, now 10-for-10, is the first Uruguayan Triple Crown winner since Invasor , who later came to the United States and was voted Horse of the Year for 2006. Trained by Jorge Piriz, Sir Fever won the one-mile Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos, the about 1 1/4-mile Gran Premio Jockey Club, and the about 1 9/16-mile Gran Premio Nacional to capture the country's Triple Crown.
All three races are ranked group I in Uruguay and were run at Maronas. Sir Fever's earnings now stand at $277,544 (U.S. funds).
Fulton said he had been following Sir Fever for some time, watched him train in Argentina, and contacted Gabriel Oribe, who knows the owners. Fulton said that after the Uruguayan Derby he contacted a long-standing client in Dubai and brokered the sale of Sir Fever.
"This horse has done things that we haven't seen since Invasor, and I truly believe that he is world-class," Fulton said.
