Sequel Stallions New York Releases 2019 Stud Fees

Becky Thomas' Sequel Stallions New York rolled out the 2019 fees for its roster of eight sires, including new stallions Destin  and The Lieutenant .

Leading the Hudson, N.Y., farm's lineup are stalwart Freud , the state's leading sire by progeny earnings, turf earnings, and Average Earnings Index; Unbridled Song's grade 1-placed millionaire son and leading New York third-crop sire Mission Impazible ; and Laoban , a grade 2-winning son of Uncle Mo  and the leading New York sire by number of mares bred in 2017 and 2018, according to The Jockey Club's reports of mares bred. Laoban bred 122 mares in 2017 and 91 in 2018. All three sires will stand for $7,500 next year.

Destin and The Lieutenant will enter stud at $6,500.

A grade 1-placed, grade 2 winner and son of Giant's Causeway, Destin is a full brother to top-five third-crop sire Creative Cause . Destin won five of 15 starts, placed four times, and earned $947,800. A nose away from being a classic winner in the 2016 Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1), he won three graded stakes, including a record-setting performance as a 3-year-old in the Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby (G2) when he ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.82.

The Lieutenant is a Street Sense  half brother to 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify  out of the Ghostzapper  mare Stage Magic. The Lieutenant broke his maiden at 3. He won half his starts at 4 and then broke into the graded stakes ranks at 5 when he won the All American Stakes (G3) at Golden Gate Fields. In July, he placed second to multiple grade 1 winner Diversify in the Suburban Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park, where he outran grade 1 winners Hoppertunity , Tapwrit , and Discreet Lover. The Lieutenant had a 4-2-1 record in 15 starts and $345,882 in earnings.

Standing for $5,000 is first-crop sire Alpha , a multiple grade 1-winning millionaire son of Bernardini  that is representing Darley America in New York. Also at $5,000 is Union Jackson , a son of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin  and out of Hot Dixie Chick, who is a grade 1-winning half sister to 2017 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Always Dreaming .

Standing privately is Stephanoatsee, a half brother to multiple grade 1 and classic winner Shackleford. Stephanoatsee is by A.P. Indy and stands for owner/breeder Leonard Riggio's My Meadowview Farm.
