Uno Más, Mario... (Also in English)

¿Y tendrá otro? Esa es la pregunta que miles de aficionados a la hípica se están haciendo.
Ha pasado poco más de año y medio desde que el jinete mexicano Mario Gutiérrez logró aquellos épicos triunfos en la silla de I´ll Have Another (que en español quiere decir: "Y tendré otro"). 
Gutiérrez condujo a la victoria a I´ll Have Another en las primeras dos coronas del 2012.  El Derby de Kentucky y el Preakness son dos de las tres pruebas que conforman la tradicional Triple Corona de la hípica norteamericana. La restante es el Belmont.  La aparición de una tendinitis impidió que tentara el Belmont y la oportunidad de alcanzar una gloria casi épica. Hace 35 años que ningún ejemplar consigue ganar las tres, rindiéndose al esfuerzo supremo de competir en un lapso muy breve de tiempo, en tres distancias y en tres hipódromos distintos.
Curiosamente, hace también casi un año que apareció la figura de He´s Had Enough (que en español quiere decir: "él ha tenido suficiente"), perdiendo a cabeza la Breeders´Cup Juvenile ante el invicto y eventual campeón de su generación Shanghai Bobby. Sin embargo, el tordillo no respondió a las expectativas desmoronando la ilusión que continuaría con el exigente y exclusivo camino de la Triple Corona de este año.
Pero  el destino, el azar, la suerte, como quiera que se llame, aquello que siempre anda más allá de nuestras manos, ha querido que el propietario de I´ll Have Another y He´s Had Enough, tenga nuevamente en su caballeriza y listo para defender sus colores, un nuevo prospecto de campeón.
Bond Holder es su nombre, la nueva esperanza del stud de Paul Reddam, que ayer se alzó con el Frontrunner Stakes en Santa Anita apuntando su nombre en el partidor de la Breeders´Cup Juvenile, como pidiendo revancha. 
"Es muy temprano," se limitó a declarar Gutiérrez con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja mientras caminaba de regreso al camerín tras el sorpresivo triunfo; sin embargo su rostro se iluminaba y reflejaba una nueva esperanza de cara al futuro.

De estas esperanzas está hecha la hípica, emociones latentes que crecen o se esfuman luego de poco más de un minuto de intenso despliegue de energía, desde que se abren las celdas del partidor hasta que se cruza la raya de sentencia. Parece Mario Gutiérrez un jinete destinado a grandes logros. Las figuras más brillantes de la fusta a veces pasan años sin conseguir una buena monta para estas carreras tan especiales. Mario parece tener un imán especial para los campeones, los atrae y los lleva a victorias que hacen soñar con metas aun más altas.

Will he have another? That’s the question that thousands of horse racing fans are asking themselves.
It’s been a little more than a year and a half since Mexican jockey Mario Gutierrez tallied those epic wins in the saddle  of I'll Have Another (which in Spanish translates to “Y tendré otro”).
Gutierrez led I'll Have Another to victory in the first two classics in 2012. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness are two of the three jewels that make up the traditional Triple Crown of U.S. horse racing. The final leg is the Belmont Stakes. The beginning of tendinitis in his left front prevented the colt from attempting the Belmont and an opportunity to reach almost epic glory. It’s been 35 years that no individual horse has won all three classics, surrendering to the supreme challenge of competing in a very short period of time at three distances on three different racetracks.
Interestingly, it was also almost a year ago that the figure of He's Had Enough (which in Spanish translates to “él ha tenido suficiente”) appeared in the spotlight, losing the Breeders'Cup Juvenile by a head to undefeated eventual 2-year-old champion Shanghai Bobby. However, the gray horse did not respond to lofty expectations, which crumbled with the demanding and unique trail to the Triple Crown this year.
But fate, chance, luck, whatever you call it - that which always is beyond our grasp - wished that the owner of I'll Have Another and He's Had Enough would again have a new champion prospect in his stable, ready to defend their colors.
Bond Holder is his name, the new hope of Paul Reddam, who yesterday won the FrontRunner Stakes at Santa Anita cementing a spot in the starting gate for the forthcoming Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, as if asking for vengeance.
“It's too early,” Gutierrez stated with a smile from ear to ear as he walked back to the jockeys’ room after the surprise maiden victory in the Grade 1, but his face lit up and reflected a new hope geared toward the future.

From these hopes horse racing is built - latent emotions that grow or disappear after just over a minute of intense display of energy, from the time the starting gate swings open until the competitors cross the finish line.
It seems as if Gutierrez is destined for great achievements. The brightest jockeys sometimes go years without getting a good mount for races this special. Gutierrez seems to have a special magnet for champions, draws and guides them to victories that make you dream of even higher goals.
