Godolphin Consigns 43 to Tattersalls February Sale

The curtain-raiser at Tattersalls this year will comprise 464 lots after the sales company released the catalog for its two-day February Sale.

The auction will commence immediately after the ever-popular TBA Flat Stallion Parade, held Jan. 31, while selling will begin Feb. 1.

The catalog is made up of 176 fillies in and out of training, 41 broodmares, 174 colts and geldings in and out of training, 53 yearlings, and 20 2-year-olds.

The February Sale will also feature high-class consignments from many leading owner-breeders, including Godolphin, Juddmonte, and Shadwell, who have 59 lots cataloged between them.

The largest consignment is Godolphin's 43-strong team, with 10 fillies in and out of training due to go under the hammer on the first day followed by 33 colts and geldings on Day 2.

Eye-catchers among its draft include Atty Persse, winner of the 2017 King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot, Irish listed winner Ambassadorial, and the listed-placed Graffiti Master, as well as fillies by top sires Dubawi, Invincible Spirit, and New Approach.

Other well-bred fillies in training include the very smart 2018 Italian One Thousand Guineas winner Act of War who will be consigned from Marco Botti's Prestige Place, the Premio Oaks d'Italia (G2) third Sladina from The Castlebridge Consignment, Highclere Stud's listed-placed Kodiac filly Snazzy, and the group 3-placed Holy Roman Emperor filly Ellery Lane from Baroda and Colbinstown Studs.

Graceful, Northeast Moon, and Queen of Paris—half sisters to group 1 winners Gilt Edge Girl, Prince Bishop, and Dariana respectively—are sure to attract plenty of attention from buyers. Bubbly, a 4-year-old half sister to Marsha's dam Marlinka, also catches the eye.

The seven-strong team from Baroda and Colbinstown also features the talented Rainbow Quest mare Kalandara, already the dam of multiple group 3 winner Luminate, who will be offered in foal to Lope de Vega. 

The Baroda and Colbinstown draft also features the well-bred Medicean mare Art of Dance in foal to champion first-season sire No Nay Never.

The listed-placed mare Hestia, also in foal to the sire of Ten Sovereigns, will be consigned by The National Stud, while other covering sires include Cityscape, Dabirsim, Havana Gold, Helmet, Nathaniel, Olympic Glory, Pedro the Great, Raven's Pass, and Rock of Gibraltar. 

Pinhookers also look well catered for with yearlings cataloged by proven group 1 sires including Camelot, Fast Company, Helmet, Holy Roman Emperor, Nathaniel, Nayef, Ruler of The World, and Showcasing as well as by first-crop sires Adaay, Ajaya, Belardo, Buratino, Coulsty, Eagle Top, Markaz, Outstrip, Pearl Secret, Prince of Lir, Proconsul, and Territories.

Buyers looking for 3-year-old colts in training with form in the book also have plenty to choose from.

Among the potential stars are the Martyn Meade-trained Crackling, a very impressive winner on debut, the Hugo Palmer-trained three-time winner James Street, smart sprinter Deputise from the stable of William Haggas, the improving John Gosden-trained winner Reeth, and Joseph O'Brien's recent Dundalk maiden winner Roger That.
