The Maryland Jockey Club canceled the special nine-race Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday program (Jan. 21) at Laurel Park due to severe winter weather conditions.

Monday's forecast called for sun with a high of 20 degrees and winds at 20 to 30 mph, gusting up to 40 mph, creating a wind chill factor well into sub-zero temperatures. A wind chill advisory was put into effect until 11 a.m.

Laurel and its OTB network will remain open for simulcasting.

Because of the same weather pattern, NYRA had previously announced that Jan. 21 racing at Aqueduct Racetrack would be cancelled. The day's races will be rescheduled, including the Interborough Stakes, which has been moved to Jan. 25.

Other tracks that have cancelled their Jan. 21 race cards include Mahoning Valley Race Course and Parx Racing.
