After earning a stakes win and grade 2 placing in 2018, Paul Pompa Jr. and WinStar Farm's Your Love will look to start 2019 on the right foot when the Flatter mare faces seven other fillies and mares in the $100,000 Interborough Stakes Jan. 25 at Aqueduct Racetrack.
The seven-furlong Interborough, originally scheduled for Jan. 21, was rescheduled to Friday after dangerously cold temperatures forced the cancellation of Monday's card.
Chad Brown will saddle Your Love, who will make her first start since a fifth-place finish at Aqueduct in the Go For Wand Handicap (G3) Dec. 1. Your Love will start from the outside post. The 5-year-old mare has demonstrated an affinity for sprinting seven furlongs with a victory in last year's Shine Again Stakes at Saratoga Race Course and a second in the 2017 Safely Kept Stakes at Laurel Park.
Your Love figures to be challenged by another daughter of Flatter in Leonard Green's two-time stakes winner Sower. In 2018, Sower won four races from nine starts with three third-place finishes. Trainer Linda Rice said the change in race date has helped Sower's preparations.
"It gave us a little more time to get her ready and get in a maintenance breeze with her (Jan. 19), which I thought went well," Rice said. "Getting back to run at the seven-eighths distance should help her, and we're excited to run her."
