Tickets for the 48th running of the Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park, a designated points race for the legendary Kentucky Derby, will be released online to the general public Thursday, Jan. 24. Links to the ticketing site are found at www.turfway.com/stakes.
Scheduled Saturday, March 9, the Jeff Ruby Steaks is the centerpiece of a 12-race day that includes five undercard stakes races. First post is 1:10 p.m.
The day's premium venue continues to be the VIP tent, a massive, clearspan structure rising along the homestretch of the one-mile track. Lavishly decorated, the tent offers sumptuous food prepared by the acclaimed chefs of Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment and a top-shelf open bar. Between races, VIP tent guests can browse luxury shopping presented by Dillard's, enjoy live entertainment from Eden Park Band and bid on Maker's Mark bottles with blank labels that will boast the winning bidder's professionally drawn caricature. Guests in the VIP tent also receive the day's souvenir racing program and a commemorative bourbon glass etched with the Jeff Ruby Steaks logo. Tickets to the VIP tent are $185 per person.
Additional reserved options are available in Turfway Park's grandstand. Seating that includes a buffet with cash bar are available for $75 per person in the Homestretch restaurant on the first floor and the fifth floor dining room. Like last year, the first year of sponsorship by Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment, food in both locations is prepared using the famed restaurateur's recipes. Table reservations in both locations require a minimum sale of two seats per table; single seats are available in the Homestretch bar. The Homestretch offers large-screen TV monitors around the room and some window seats with views of the final furlong. Tiered seating in the fifth floor dining room offers a panoramic view of the entire track. A limited number of tables in both locations include individual TV monitors. Both the Homestretch and the fifth floor dining room are smoke free.
Other reserved options include handicapping stations in Players' Row on the first and second floors, most featuring individual TV monitors and all with easy viewing of multiple large-screen TVs showing races from Turfway and tracks across the country. Players' Row seating on the first floor is the day's only smoking section. Players' Row seating on the second floor is designated non-smoking. Seats in both areas are $25 per person.
One of the most popular reserved locations is the mezzanine rail on the third floor, which offers a panoramic view of the entire track. Fans may reserve tables for six along the rail at $120 per table; individual seats along the rail are not sold.
General admission to the Jeff Ruby Steaks is free for the first year ever and includes abundant first come, first served seating in the second floor grandstand overlooking the track, open areas of the second and third floors and bench seating on the track apron. Fans are permitted to bring chairs. Coolers are not permitted.
Parking is free every day at Turfway Park. Valet parking is available for $5 on Jeff Ruby Steaks day.
