Horseman Uriah St. Lewis, best known for sending out Discreet Lover to an upset victory in last year's Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park, will aim for another stakes win in New York Feb. 3.

St. Lewis will saddle filly Afleet Destiny in the $100,000 Busanda Stakes Sunday at Aqueduct Racetrack. Afleet Destiny, who also is owned by St. Lewis, will face an expected 10 other 3-year-old fillies in the 1 1/8-mile test.

A daughter of Hard Spun , Afleet Destiny found success in her initial two-turn start when she rallied from fourth to win a one-mile maiden race Nov. 11 at Parx Racing. She followed that effort with a runner-up finish to Positive Spirit in the nine-furlong Demoiselle Stakes (G2) Dec. 1 at Aqueduct, her final start of 2018.

"She's doing great," St. Lewis said. "She handled the track well in the Demoiselle, and we know she can get the distance. After that race, we let her have a few weeks off to grow into her own, and she's come back and breezed strong. She looks very fit."

Jockey Anthony Salgado, who guided Afleet Destiny in her first five starts, will be aboard Sunday.

The Busanda awards qualifying points to the top four finishers towards the Road to the Kentucky Oaks  on a scale of 10-4-2-1.

The Busanda field also includes the third-place finisher from the Demoiselle, Arindel's Filly Joel, as well as New York-bred Elegant Zip, who has placed in three stakes for state-breds.
