Heart to Heart wins the Maker's 46 Mile at Keeneland

Veteran runners Heart to Heart and Goodyearforroses are scheduled to make their first starts at Tampa Bay Downs Feb. 9 in a pair of grade 3 turf stakes.

Grade 1 winner Heart to Heart will compete at the 12th track in his career when the 8-year-old starts in the $175,000 Tampa Bay Stakes (G3T). Saturday's 1 1/16-mile test will mark the 40th start of his career and second start this season, following a third-place finish in the Jan. 12 Tropical Turf Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park.

A homebred for Terry Hamilton, Heart to Heart will attempt to earn a graded stakes win for a sixth straight season while facing an expected seven other runners. Last year, the son of English Channel  earned top-level scores in the Gulfstream Park Turf Stakes (G1T) and Maker's 46 Mile Stakes (G1T).

While Heart to Heart will make his Tampa debut, Stuart Janney III and Phipps Stable's Inspector Lynley, who won the 2017 edition of the Tampa Bay Stakes, returns and will start from post 2. The son of Lemon Drop Kid  won just once last year, taking the Fasig-Tipton Lure Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, but he was consistent—not finishing worse than fourth in any of his seven races.

Heart to Heart isn't the only grade 1 winner in the field as two-time Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes (G1T) winner Divisidero will make his 7-year-old debut. Gunpowder Farms and Brereton Jones' Divisidero, a son of Kitten's Joy , finished a close fourth in last year's Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T) at Churchill Downs but will be looking to end a four-race skid.

Shadwell Stable's Qurbaan put together three nice starts in North America last year after racing primarily in Europe. The son of Speightstown  won his United States debut in the Bernard Baruch Handicap (G2T) at Saratoga before earning a top-level placing in the Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) on the Keeneland turf and closing the year with a runner-up finish to Glorious Empire in the Fort Lauderdale Stakes (G2T) at Gulfstream, defeating Divisidero, who finished fifth.

In the Tampa Bay's sister race, the Lambholm South Endeavour Stakes (G3T) for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on the turf, Goodyearforroses will make her 7-year-old debut for new connections—owner James Spry and trainer Brian House. Rested all of 2018, Goodyearforroses was previously based in Southern California with trainer Richard Baltas for owner Abbondanza Racing and Medallion Racing.

In 2017, Goodyearforroses captured the Santa Ana Stakes (G2T) on the Santa Anita Park turf and finished second on the grass in the Gamely Stakes (G1T).

Sheep Pond Partners, Tom Coleman, and Norton Herrick's Rymska could be favored in the Endeavour if she starts. The multiple grade 3-winning daughter of La Havre is cross-entered in the Suwannee River Stakes (G3T) the same day at Gulfstream.
