America’s Best Racing and DerbyJackpot team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo or Cory Moelis – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet.
The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity to bet a trifecta or superfecta.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. It's the easiest and most fun online horse betting site out there. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

This Weekend’s Bets
Saturday, Dec. 6
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Gulfstream Park, Race 2, 1:04 ET
#12 More Front: He finished fourth in his career debut in a field of 11 at the tricky distance of 7 ½ furlongs. I think his debut was a great educational run and serves as a a good foundation for this race. His pedigree suggests he will appreciate this longer distance, and his trainer does well with runners making their second start.
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
Gulfstream Park, Race 9, 4:27 ET
#3 Delta Bluesman: He comes off the best race of his career and brings a two-race win streak into this race. He has not finished worse than third in his last six outings, and this jockey has been aboard for all three of his wins. He likes to be close to the pace.
#5 Hard Enough: Owns two wins on this track and is a graded stakes winner on the turf. He’s shown he can win on the lead or from off the pace, and his versatile style should fit nicely against this field.
#9 Longhunter: If you ignore his last race at Keeneland, he comes off two strong wins on this track earlier in the year. He seems to love this track, and if he repeats any of those efforts he will be tough to beat.
Sunday, Dec. 7
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Los Alamitos, Race 4, 5 p.m. ET
#3 Magoo: He has plenty of speed and loves to win races. He’s been facing speedy Quarter Horses at night and has gotten away to slow starts in his last couple of efforts. An alert break should give him a good chance to be in ideal position turning for home.
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
Los Alamitos, Race 7, 6:30 p.m. ET
#4 Rough Passage: This colt has always shown talent but he has not been able to get the first win. He’s making his second start since May and has maintained fitness with three workouts since his last start.
#5 Alamo: He’s the one to beat in this field. He owns two, solid third-place finishes and is a well-bred runner who comes from the barn of a Hall of Fame trainer (Richard Mandella) and has a Hall of Fame jockey (Gary Stevens) aboard.
#7 Ten to Show: He has not been seen since January, when he ran third in his debut against an easier field. He owns a steady set of workouts leading up to this effort and this trainer does well with new acquisitions.
