Heavy rain in the Berkeley, Calif. area has forced Golden Gate Fields to cancel its Feb. 14 card.
While the all-weather surface is handling the heavy precipitation, Golden Gate Fields general manager David Duggan said the adjacent storm drains are not draining because of flooding in the area, forcing the track to call off today's card.
"The rain is unreal and the prospects of it clearing are not good today," Duggan said. "We have to be mindful of all participants. I've never seen anything like this."
