Under Vergara's urging, Listen You Fool was up in time for a neck victory, halting a 20-race winless streak.

A native of Mexico who resides in Phoenix, Vergara scored his first career win on Caris Magic at Hipodromo de las Americas on Feb. 2, 1990.
Vergara's record also includes 42 stakes victories. In addition to the milestone win, he has 1,031 seconds and 1,022 thirds from 6,834 mounts who have amassed purse earnings of $9,989,688 as of Dec. 6.
