Jason Beem, currently the announcer at Portland Meadows in Oregon, has been named announcer at Harrah's Louisiana Downs beginning with the 2015 Quarter Horse meet.

Beem, a native of Washington, called races at River Downs—now Belterra Park—in Ohio before taking the job at Portland Meadows, where he has worked for nine years. The Louisiana Downs Quarter Horse meet goes from Jan. 10-March 25 and is followed in the spring by the Thoroughbred meet.

"I'm so thrilled to be joining the team at Louisiana Downs," Beem said. "It's a track with great history and great racing. It's also an honor to get the chance to call races in a booth that has housed some of the top announcers in our business."

Rick Mocklin called the races at Louisiana Downs this year after Travis Stone left to take the announcer's job at Monmouth Park in New Jersey.
