The first reported foal by grade 1-placed, graded stakes winner Airoforce arrived Feb. 8 at Swifty Farms in Indiana.
Bred by Wayne Spaulding, the bay colt is also the first foal out of the winning Flower Alley daughter Blue Chicory. The mare, a half sister to three other winners, is from the family of graded stakes winner and stakes producer Golden Sonata and grade 1-placed stakes winner Street Girl.
"He is a very good-looking colt, who's well-balanced and has good bone. We're off to a good start with Airoforce," said Maria Vorhauer, manager of Cabin Creek Farm near Bernville, Pa., where Airoforce stands.
Airoforce, a 6-year-old son of Colonel John, was bred in Kentucky by Stewart Madison. The horse wound up in the 2015 Ocala Breeders' Sales' Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale where trainer Mark Casse bought him for $350,000 on behalf of owner John Oxley out of the Richardson Bloodstock consignment.
A precocious colt, he won at first asking by 3 1/4 lengths at Kentucky Downs and followed up with a victory in the Dixiana Bourbon Stakes (G3T), a second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T), and another win in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) on a sloppy main track at Churchill Downs. He compiled a 3-3-0 record out of 12 starts and earned $679,130.
Jeff and Stacey Jeans acquired Airoforce through the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale and stood him initially at Swifty Farms. The stallion was relocated to Cabin Creek in September and stands for $2,500 in 2019.
