Members of Horse Country will open their gates March 9-10, 2019 for a weekend of special free tours for the third annual "Meet the NEIGHbors" event.
The experiences at area equine attractions provide an opportunity for locals to visit a Horse Country member in their own backyard. Meet the NEIGHbors locations represent experiences in categories including equine medical clinic, sport horse, stud farm, training, racetrack, nursery, and aftercare facilities. These tours, which are limited capacity (4 spots total per household may be reserved), are offered on a complimentary basis these dates only.
Various locations through Bourbon, Fayette, Jessamine, Oldham, and Woodford Counties will host locals at designated times. Advance registration is required to secure participation on the tour; reservations, while free for this event, are required. Up to four guests total per household are available. To make your reservations, simply visit www.meettheneighborsky.com.
"So many in our community may never have had the chance to—or didn't know they could—visit one of the iconic equine-focused locations in our membership," said Anne Hardy, Executive Director of Horse Country, "We and our members are pleased to extend this special invitation to get to know Horse Country."
Since the first tours given in 2015, Horse Country, Inc. has hosted more than 100,000 guests, from all 50 US states, and 22 countries outside of the United States. Members each offer tours of their locations, allowing guests to meet horses at all stages of their life and careers, learn about and understand aftercare, training, breeding, sales and many other intricacies of the industry in a new and personal way.
"We thank our members for generously dedicating their time to welcoming the community, as well as our media partners WLEX-18 and WUKY, who help us spread the word," said Hardy.
For the safety of the guests and the animals, no one will be allowed on the properties without reservations, which must be obtained in advance by going to the Meet the Neighbors website.
