Darley in Australia has purchased Brazen Beau, one of Australia's best 3-year-old sprinters, and plans to launch his stud career during the 2015 Southern Hemisphere season.
Brazen Beau is a son of Australia's champion first-season sire by winners and progeny earnings for the 2013-14 season, I Am Invincible, who currently leads the second season sires' list by earnings. The colt won the Coolmore Stud Stakes (Aus-I) Nov. 1 at Flemington, and plans call for him to remain in training with Chris Waller. He will continue to campaign in the all-gold colors of his previous owners, Ontrack Thoroughbreds, for the duration of his autumn campaign.
Brazen Beau will be aimed for the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (Aus-I) Feb. 1 and Lexus Newmarket Handicap (Aus-I) March 14, both at Flemington, before heading to Royal Ascot and the Golden Jubilee (Eng-I) in June.
"We are delighted to have secured Brazen Beau for stud duties next year," said Henry Plumptre, Darley's managing director in Australia. "We identified him as a top-class colt after his win in the (Oct. 4) Roman Consul Stakes (Aus-II) in Sydney, and it was no surprise to us when he won the Coolmore as impressively as he did.
"It is hoped that he will be able to underline his ability with an autumn campaign taking in two of this country's best sprints before running at Royal Ascot. He is a powerful type and as a group I winner already he'll be a popular addition to our roster when he retires to take up stud duties at Northwood Park for the 2015 season."
Brazen Beau has a 4-2-0 record from eight career starts. He is out of the winning Snaadee mare Sansadee and descends from Windfields Farm's influential matron Windy Answer, ancestress of Australian champion sires Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur.
