The 2015 racing season, which begins Feb. 7, brings changes to Rillito Park in Tucson, Ariz.
New management, led by general manager Michael Weiss, has already begun improvements in preparation for the 2015 race meet. New food and beverage providers offer the racing fans more choices, while track renovations, larger purses, and more racing days promise more opportunities for the horsemen.
Horsemen will see larger purses, an approximate 40% increase over the racing season last year.
"They're conservative, but something to build on," said Jaye Wells, director of the Rillito Park Foundation, adding that sponsorships will bolster purses.
For the first time in years, patrons have access to play other tracks around the country with the reintroduction of simulcast wagering at Rillito.
