Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course has received approval from the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission to conduct 193 days of live racing in 2015.
The central Pennsylvania oval is to run eight-race programs Wednesday through Saturday with first race post time at 6 p.m. ET. The 2015 calendar will feature changes in the nightly wagering format to provide more opportunities for horseplayers.
"We're going to have rolling Pick Threes and Daily Doubles throughout our entire card," said director of racing Eric Johnston. "The multiple leg wagers are popular with the fans and we are glad to be able to offer them on a regular basis throughout the program."
After only two editions, the $500,000 Penn Mile has been given grade III status by the American Graded Stakes Committee. The 2015 renewal is scheduled for May 30.
The race gained its prominent position on the national racing calendar after Bobby's Kitten won the turf race for 3-year-olds in 2014 and went on to capture the $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Park.
The $200,000 Fabulous Strike Handicap will be Thanksgiving Eve. Track officials and fans are hopeful that the multi-millionaire Ben's Cat will be back to try for his fourth consecutive win in the six-furlong sprint.
