Couch Joins Belterra Park as Racing Secretary

Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center announced March 14 the start of its 2019 season is set for April 26. Belterra Park will race every Thursday through Sunday until Sept. 29. Post times are also changing this year from 1:20 p.m. daily to 12:35 p.m. daily. 

"We are proud to be kicking off our fifth year of operation as Belterra Park, and our first as a part of Boyd Gaming," said Chris Corrado, vice president and general manager of Belterra Park. "Thoroughbred racing is a central part of our history, and we look forward to our meet every year." 

Belterra Park expects field sizes and purses to be among the strongest to date, including an approximate 10% increase to purses in each race. In 2018, the Los Angeles Times noted Belterra Park among the top 10 best tracks for field sizes. 

Belterra Park also welcomes a new racing secretary this year—Bill Couch, who was recently named to the role after approval from the Ohio State Racing Commission. Couch brings more than 30 years of experience to Belterra Park, having previously served in similar roles at Gulfstream Park, Thistledown, and Delaware North. 

"Bill's extensive knowledge of the Ohio racing landscape is going to be a tremendous asset for us. He's highly respected in the industry, and we are lucky to have him," Corrado added.
