Santa Anita Releases Planned Rescheduled Stakes Dates

Pending approval by the California Horse Racing Board for Santa Anita Park to reopen March 29, several stakes at the racetrack have been rescheduled.

Steve Lym, vice president of racing and the racing secretary of Santa Anita, said the following stakes are scheduled for the first week, from March 29 through March 31.

  • Beholder Stakes (G1), for older fillies and mares at a mile on the dirt, March 30 (rescheduled from March 16 and March 23)
  • San Carlos Stakes (G2), for older runners at seven furlongs on the dirt, March 30 (rescheduled from March 9 and March 23)
  • San Simeon Stakes (G3T), for older runners at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf, March 30 (rescheduled from March 16 and March 22)
  • Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1T), for 4-year-olds and up at a mile on the turf, remains on March 30 (rescheduled from March 9)
  • Santa Ana Stakes (G2T), for older fillies and mares at 1 1/4 miles on the turf, remains on March 30 (as originally scheduled)
  • Santana Mile, for 4-year-olds and up and a mile on the dirt, remains on March 31 (as originally scheduled)
  • Irish O'Brien Stakes, for California-bred and California-sired older fillies and mares at about 6 1/2 furlongs down the hillside turf course, March 31 (rescheduled from March 17)
  • Sensational Star Stakes, for California-breds and California-sired older runners at about 6 1/2 furlongs down the hillside turf course, March 31 (rescheduled from March 24)
