Competitive Field of 12 Distaffers in Frankel

A deep and competitive field of 12 fillies and mares have been entered for the Dec. 27 Robert J. Frankel Stakes (gr. IIIT) at 1 1/8 miles on turf on opening weekend at Santa Anita Park.



Among the most experienced distaffers in the field is Team Valor International homebred Three Hearts, who won the Red Carpet Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Del Mar in her first start for Neil Drysdale.



The Frankel drew six entrants from the Red Carpet, run Nov. 22 at 1 3/8 miles.



A 4-year-old filly by Hat Trick  , Three Hearts has a win, a second, and a third place finish from four tries at a 1 1/8 miles on turf and does her best running while near the early pace.



Also expected to be a contender is Blingismything, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly by Arch   who returned from a 15-month layoff to win a 6 1/2-furlong turf allowance at Santa Anita on Oct. 31 before stretching out to win a second condition allowance in game fashion going 1 1/16 miles on grass Nov. 27. Trained by Eric Krujac for Class Racing Stable, she'll be trying stakes competition for the first time but retains the services of Joe Talamo, who took off Three Hearts to stay with Blingismything Saturday.



The lone 3-year-old in the field is Diversy Harbor, winner of the China Doll Stakes in her second start earlier this year. Trained by Tom Proctor, the filly went on to place in three consecutive graded turf events—Providencia (gr. IIIT), Honeymoon (gr. IIT), and the American Oaks (gr. IT).



Diversy Harbor was second, beaten 1 1/4 lengths in her most recent start, the grade III, one mile turf Autumn Miss Stakes, on Oct. 25.  She'll be ridden by Gary Stevens, who was aboard for her first three races—winning two of them.
